W. G. Eaton Post #34
Otsego, Allegan County, Michigan

Organized November 10, 1881

This Post was named to honor Willard G.Eaton of Otsego, Michigan. He enlisted in Company I, 13th Michigan Infatry, at organization, as First Lieutenant, at age 40. He was Commissioned Captain October 20, 1862, Major on May 26, 1863 and Colonel on February 23, 1863. He was killed in action at Bentonville, North Carolina on March 19, 1865.

This Post was Mustered with 17 Charter Members.

The first Post Commander was A. F. Haynes who served in Company K, 19th Michigan Infantry.

The Post met initially at Chichesters Hall on Allegan Street. In 1884 they met at Union Hall on North Farmer Street. From that time forward they met on Allegan Street at locations noted as G. A. R. Hall, Mills Hall and Harter Hall.

The last Post Commander was Oliver Wise who enlisted in Company C, 7th Ohio Infantry on August 1, 1864. He was discharged on July 6, 1865.

The Last Report was filed December 31, 1914 with nine active Members. The Post was disbanded on that date.
