Paul D. Hodges

Department Commander 1997 - 1998

 

Paul HodgesPaul D. Hodges joined the order in January 1986, becoming a member of the Curtenius Guard Camp No. 17 of Lansing and Sunfield. He has served in several offices of the Camp, including Camp Commander in 1996.

Brother Hodges also has held various offices in the Department of Michigan. He was elected Department Commander in 1997, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Herrick Hodges, the first Michigan Department Commander. Paul represented the Department in the Michigan Commanders Group for two years. He was awarded the Department’s Abraham Lincoln Certificate of Appreciation in 1992.

Brother Hodges also holds memberships in other historical societies. He is a past president of the Sons of the Revolution in the State of Michigan, a member of the Order of Founders and Patriots of America, and a life member of the Sons of Spanish-American War Veterans.

Brother Hodges has worked in several engineering capacities including more than 32 years as an environmental engineer with the Michigan Department of Public Health. He served in the U.S. Army as a topographic surveyor. A life member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, he is a past president of its Grand Valley Chapter. He is also a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and was elected to the American Academy of Environmental Engineers.

Brother Hodges is an elder of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lansing. He has served the church in several capacities including Clerk of Session and Church Treasurer.

Brother Hodges is married to Donna (Beutler) Hodges; they have a daughter, Bethany, a son, Paul Jr. and two grandchildren.
