Frank Wheaton Rowlson

Department Commander 1885-1886

 


Frank Wheaton Rowlson was born April 1862 in Hillsdale, Michigan to Eugene and Rowena Rowlson. Eugene, born 8 Dec 1836, was a native of Louisiana and served in Company C, 1st US Sharpshooters. He  listed his residence Lenawee County, Michigan when he enlisted in Detroit, Michigan as a Sergeant on 21 August 1861. He was promoted to Quartermaster Sergeant on 31 August 1861.  In December of 1862, Eugene opened a recruiting office in Hillsdale with another solider. He was discharged for disability on 17 June 1862.  He died 15 Aug 1889 and is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsdale, Michigan.

Frank Rowlson married Anita Cecil Cochrane on 3 November 1897 in Chicago, Illinois. He as a charter member of the Geo. W. Lombard Camp #5 in Hillsdale, serving as the first Camp Captain (now called Camp Commander).

The last mention we have of the family, they were listed in the 1900 census living in Chicago, Illinois.
