H. Frank Finch

H.
Frank Finch was born in 1873, in Grand Haven, Michigan. He moved
to Grand Rapids as a young man, and was a machinist by trade. For
a short time, he had been employed by the lumber firm of White,
Friant & Finch, of which his father was a partner. Brother Finch
was a charter member of Robert Finch Camp No. 14 of Grand Rapids.
In the camp, Frank held the office of Commander, Secretary and Treasurer.
He served as Department Commander in 1927-28, and also served several
terms as the Department Secretary-Treasurer. Bro. Finch was active
in Malta Lodge No. 465, Free & Accepted Masons, and attended
Grace Episcopal Church. Frank died 30 December, 1952, and is buried
in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Frank's father was Robert Finch, for whom Camp No. 14 was named.
Robert served as Sergeant of Co. B, 1st Michigan Sharp Shooters.
He enlisted on 17 February 1863, and was discharged for disability
on 3 October 1864. Comrade Finch was a member of Custer Post No.
5, G.A.R. of Grand Rapids
